Tower placement: the part everyone rushes

Tower placement: the part everyone rushes

September 25, 2026 · Lukas Vogel

Most new tower defence players, myself included once, obsess over upgrades and ignore geometry. But the single biggest lever you have is placement. A slow tower at a sharp corner does more work than a fancy one on a straight line.

Look for choke points first. Anywhere the path bends or narrows is prime real estate because enemies spend longer in range. Put your splash damage there and your single-target towers where stragglers slip through.

Think in overlap. Two mediocre towers whose ranges cross will out-damage one great tower standing alone. I draw the radius circles in my head before I spend a single coin.

Finally, leave room to grow. Cramming everything in early feels productive but boxes you out of better positions later. Breathing space is a resource too.
